ISO 26000 Guidance on Social Responsibility
We are pleased to forward to you an information note on ISO 26000 Guidance on Social Responsibility.
The International Standard was published in its final version in November 2010.
We would like to emphasise that the Standard is not a management system standard. It is meant for guidance only and not for certification purposes. As expressly addressed by the Standard itself, any offer to certify to ISO 26000 or any claim to be certified to ISO 26000 would be a misrepresentation of its intent and purpose.
It is intended to provide a general understanding of the core subjects and issues pertaining to social responsibility and on ways to improve existing practices and further integrate socially responsible behaviour into the organisation.
ISO 26000 is applicable to all organisations, regardless of their size, sector or level of involvement in social responsibility and can be a useful to tool for enhancing an organisation’s performance on social responsibility and its contribution to sustainable development.
