Following changes to the HRDC Training Levy Grant System and Incentives and MQA Regulations, the MEF organised a Briefing Session on Thursday 22 October 2009 from   10 00 to 12 00 to sensitise employers as to the changes and to provide a platform for them to raise their concerns vis-à-vis the HRDC and MQA. Some 158 members attended the session.

 

The main changes were:

 

MQA

• Application forms have been simplified
• Application fees have been reviewed

 

HRDC

• Four Training Incentives have changed – Multimedia Facilities, Foreign Expertise, Overseas Training and Final Year of First Degree or Masters Degree Programmes
• Rate of Levy has changed from 1% to 1.5 % allocated to the National Training Fund and 1% allocated to the Workfare Programme

 

While ending, Dr. Jeetun highlighted that the Training Department at the MEF has been dispatching a series of Guidance and Information Notes on the MQA and HRDC for the benefit of members. The MEF continues to fulfil its remit as an advisory body and would be pleased to act as an interface for members vis-à-vis the MQA and HRDC where the latter would be able to direct their questions and concerns.
