The UN Global Compact

As part of its efforts to promote responsible business and good corporate citizenship, the MEF, supported by the UNDP, acts as a Focal Point for the UN Global Compact (UNGC) in Mauritius.  The UN Global Compact is the most widely recognized framework and the largest initiative for CSR in the world. 

 19 Mauritian business operators, amongst them some of the biggest conglomerates and leaders in the field of CSR, have shown their commitment to responsible and sustainable business by adhering to the Global Compact initiative.  They are committed to applying the principles of the Global Compact in their strategy, culture, day to day operations and within their sphere of influence.

The Federation plays an important role in the development of the Global Network Mauritius by bringing together local participants of the Global Compact in order to:

• ·         Assist participants in the implementation of the ten principles and to report on their progress
• ·         Promote collective action through common initiatives
• ·         Provide a mechanism for dialogue and communication on CSR
• ·         Strengthen corporate citizenship and further the UN Global Compact initiative in Mauritius
