SME - Mentoring
In 2006, the MEF in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Council launched the project for ‘Mentoring of SMEs’. This project complements what the MEF has been doing in the past and will help to approach the development of SMEs within a comprehensive framework.
Mentoring allows SMEs to benefit from the knowledge and experience of experienced business people.
The Project focuses on four types of services:
- Advisory Services and Information Diffusion
- Consolidation and Sustainability
- Growth Orientation and Development
- Networking and Institutional Linkages
The MEF acts as the coordinator and sets up a team of mentors. The mentors then visit the SMEs whereby problems are highlighted such that necessary advice, guidance and follow-up actions are provided. An action plan is then developed for each entrepreneur for implementation. Up to now, around 200 SMEs have benefited from free advice and support.
