Our Mission: To contribute to building up an enabling environment for the development and competitiveness of enterprises and the enhancement of quality of life.

The Mauritius Employers’ Federation was founded in 1962. It is the largest organisation of the private sector in Mauritius, with 913 members and growing.

The MEF is the vital voice of all employers in Mauritius whom it represents officially, vis-à-vis the Government, on the one hand, and the trade union movement, on the other, and in countless forums and statutory boards and committees at the sectoral, national and international levels.

Its primary mission is the safeguard and defence of the interests of its members and, by extension, the promotion of free enterprise in Mauritius.

The Federation aims at:

  • fostering a better understanding of the role and importance of employers, enterprises and the private sector at large in the social and economic development in Mauritius

  • strengthening Management’s ability to cope effectively with problems that may arise in the operation of an enterprise
promoting smooth and harmonious relations between employers and their employees

  • bringing about closer cooperation between employers and their social partners, and among employers themselves.

It provides valuable services to employers in various fields, namely

  • Industrial Relations

  • Economics, Statistics & Research

  • Education

  • Training and Productivity

  • Management

  • Human Resource Management

  • Entrepreneurship and Small Enterprise Development

  • Occupational Safety and Health
